Guapetones ("we", "us", "our") operates the GuapeApp mobile application and its associated web services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you accept this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
1. Who we are
Guapetones is a software product developed and operated from Argentina. The data controller is Guapetones. To contact us about privacy matters, write to support@guapetones.ar.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account information
- Email address and password (hashed) for authentication.
- Display name, profile photo, date of birth, gender, and phone number (when provided).
- FCM push notification token issued by your device, used to deliver alerts.
2.2 Pet information
- Pet name, species, breed, birth date, weight, photos.
- Pet health data managed by you: vaccines, dewormings and certificates you upload.
2.3 Precise and background location
- While a walk is active, we collect your device's precise GPS location (latitude, longitude, accuracy) to draw the walk path and compute distance and speed.
- On Android, location is collected through a foreground service so the path keeps updating while the screen is locked. Location collection stops as soon as you end the walk.
- If you enable "discover walkers nearby", we publish a fuzzed (~100 m radius) approximate location with a rotating obfuscated identifier so other walkers can see Guapetones nearby without identifying you.
2.4 Camera and photos
If you grant camera and photo-library access, we use those permissions to let you upload pet photos, profile photos, and vaccine/deworming certificates. The images are uploaded to Firebase Storage and tied to your account.
2.5 Health Connect (Android) and Apple Health (iOS) — your fitness data
This integration is for your fitness data as the human pet owner — not your pet's data. Health Connect and Apple Health do not support animal data. We use them solely to record your own physical activity during walks.

TotalCaloriesBurnedandDistanceas workout samples, so the walk you just took shows up in your broader fitness history alongside other workouts. - Pet activity is never written to Health Connect or Apple Health. Your pet's walk path, duration and pet-side stats stay only in GuapeApp.
- Health Connect / Apple Health data lives on your device and in your linked health account. We do not upload your raw health data to our servers; we only persist the per-walk aggregates (steps and calories for that walk) in your GuapeApp account so the walk summary still shows them when you reopen the app.
- You can revoke access at any time: on Android open Settings → Apps → Health Connect → App permissions → Guapetones. On iOS open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Guapetones.
2.6 Subscriptions and purchases
In-app purchases (monthly and yearly subscriptions) are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements. RevenueCat receives your anonymized user identifier, the product purchased, and the subscription status. Payment card details are handled by Apple/Google and never seen by us or RevenueCat.
2.7 GuapeAI assistant conversations
When you use the GuapeAI veterinary assistant, your message, the contextual data we attach (pet name, species, age, breed, weight) and conversation history are sent to Anthropic, PBC ("Claude API") to generate an answer. Conversations are also stored in your account so you can review past answers. AI conversations are deleted after 90 days.
2.8 Crash reports and diagnostics
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, we send a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics containing the stack trace, your user ID, family ID, platform, and environment. We use this only to diagnose and fix bugs.
3. How we use your data
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To track your walks (route, distance, duration, your steps and calories) and show summaries and stats.
- To share live walks with your family members when you enable that feature.
- To send notifications you opted into (family walks, walk reminders, lost-pet alerts, GuapeAI proactive messages).
- To answer your GuapeAI questions.
- To process subscription purchases and unlock premium features.
- To detect bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
4. Third parties we share data with
We share the minimum data needed for each provider to perform its function. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
- Google / Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, FCM, Crashlytics, Analytics) — see Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat, Inc. (subscription management) — see RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic, PBC (Claude AI for GuapeAI) — see Anthropic Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API requests to train its models.
- Google Maps Platform (map rendering, static maps for walk summaries) — see Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple Health / Google Health Connect — your health data stays on your device and in your platform health account. We do not transmit it to our servers.
5. Data retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active.
- Walks (path, distance, your steps, your calories): kept for up to 2 years after the last walk, then archived.
- GuapeAI conversations: 90 days, then deleted.
- Crashlytics reports: 90 days (Firebase default).
- Active-walker discovery records: 10 minutes from publication; rotating obfuscated identifiers reset every 24 hours.
- After you delete your account: we erase your personal data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep.
6. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data — most fields can be edited from inside the app (Settings → My Profile, Pet profile, etc.).
- Delete your account: open Settings → My Profile → Delete account. This removes your authentication record and triggers full personal-data deletion within 30 days. Alternatively, email support@guapetones.ar.
- Export your data: write to support@guapetones.ar and we will provide an export within 30 days.
- Revoke health permissions: open Apple Health or Health Connect on your device and remove Guapetones' access. The toggle inside GuapeApp also disables the integration.
- Revoke location permissions: in your device's system settings.
- Withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out.
7. Security
Data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS. Data at rest in Firebase services is encrypted at the storage layer. Access to data is gated by Firebase Security Rules and server-side validation. We follow the principle of least privilege for our cloud accounts.
No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a security incident affecting your account, contact us at support@guapetones.ar.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal data can email support@guapetones.ar.
9. International transfers
Our cloud providers (Google Cloud / Firebase, Anthropic, RevenueCat) operate from the United States and other regions. By using the Service you consent to your data being processed outside Argentina, subject to safeguards consistent with applicable data-protection laws.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material we will notify you in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
